A Narrative History of the Montana Heritage Project

A Geographic Approach to Community Education

team of teachers, professionals and community members

Corvallis High School

Students focused on the history of their town by making physical and cultural geographical comparisons between what existed in the past versus what exists today. To make the comparisons, students conducted interviews with area residents, reviewed oral histories and historical documents from the county museum, and collected, reproduced and stored photographs provided by community members. Students collected and displayed 300 photographs, fifteen oral histories, and created multimedia presentations which have been shared with numerous community organizations.
