A Narrative History of the Montana Heritage Project

Community Connections to Natural Resources and the Economy: a Look at Logging

Rose Goyen

Libby High School

Oral history was the research method used in this project. Students were introduced to the method by an oral historian who came to class and helped them understand the process and give them pointers. Students then interviewed someone in town about the history of logging, had their picture taken with that person, and turned their interviews into a written report in a genre of their choosing. The materials will be preserved at the local museum.
