Libby High School

Students at Libby High School have been working on adding to the extensive photo archives they’ve created. Over the past five years students have accumulated an archive of over 5,000 photos of the area. They created a slide show and narrative focusing on the environmental history of Libby that was presented at Libby’s first Heritage Night. Then they took their show on the road, presenting the slide show to Plum Creek Timber Company and Stimson Lumber Company executives in Columbia Falls, Montana and in Portland, Oregon, as well as to U.S. Forest Service officials in Missoula, Montana. This presentation was also featured at the Montana Heritage Project Teachers Institute to an audience that included Project founders and sponsors Art Ortenberg and Liz Claiborne along with officials from the Library of Congress and Montana’s leading cultural agencies.
