Chester Elementary School

1997-98

Students researched five homestead families who had been important in the shaping of Chester. Students conducted historical research about the time period, collected information about those families, and interviewed surviving family members and descendants. Students were trained in the interview process and in the use of video and audio tape recorders and then conducted interviews with homestead families. Interview questions were aimed at learning more about the contributions of these early families in shaping Chester and to learn about the day to day life of homestead families. Students created a multimedia and video presentation of their research and interview recordings.
