A Narrative History of the Montana Heritage Project

Evoking Memories Long Forgotten

St.Ignatius High School Students

St. Ignatius High School

Students selected local history research topics that required students to reach out into the community: Each research paper required that the student include citations from texts and from interviews, and that each paper have a supporting research file consisting of newspaper clippings, magazine articles, photographs, and tape-recorded interviews. Topics researched included The Cemeteries of St. Ignatius, The Beginnings of Commerce in the Mission Valley, and St. Ignatius Women’s Club, among many others. A community open house “Coming Into Place - Exploring the Mission Valley” was held and students presented their papers and research files. More than one hundred people attended the event and were reminded of their own stories.
