Schools are Community Builders

Jim Holland

Broadwater High School

1996-97

Students in this project researched the history of sports and other extracurricular activities to explore how a school ties a community together educationally, socially, politically, and culturally across social, racial and economic spectrums. Students researched old newspapers, yearbooks, school trophy cases, and conducted interviews with former sports participants. Students created “Cheer for the Home Team!” from their written narratives of individual, team, or group season and achievement.
