Focusing on Mission

One person’s process is another person’s content.

Form and Substance: Substance is enduring, form is ephemeral. Failure to distinguish clearly between the two is ruinous. Success follows those adept at preserving the substance of the past by clothing it in the forms of the future. Preserve substance; modify form; know the difference.

Make no little plans.

Focus on core; outsource everything else. Organizations achieve excellence by leveraging their core competencies. Everything else is context, and context is a needless distraction. Without careful management, context gets in the way of core because it absorbs time, talent and attention.
