New grants from PPL

Those of you who applied for special projects grants may want to use the work you did preparing them to submit applications to a new grant opportunity for grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. They specifically mention after school programs and arts education as areas they want to fund--those of you working with video or websites might be able to pick up some dollars.

PPL has announced that will award $200,000 in 2005 in three major “quality of life” areas: education, environment and economic development. It says the grants will go to nonprofits, but its application also accepts grants from government agencies.

They envision that the grants – ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 – will improve the quality of education, enhance the environment and bring jobs and new tax revenues to Montana through improved economic development.

My experience is that new grant programs like this aren’t too competitive at the beginning. Here are the criteria. Here is the application.
